Ministries

The life of the church doesn't begin and end on Sunday Mornings.

We are called at all times to be part of the body of Christ by continuing to enrich our faith, welcoming others to join us, and caring for others as we care for ourselves.

Being Truly Welcoming

AT FIRST CONGREGATIONAL

UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

"No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here."

We also recognize that it is one thing to say that we are welcoming, and it is another to live it out in our worship and our community.

Open and Affirming

We are proud to be an Open and Affirming congregation in the United Church of Christ.

This means that we affirm the full inclusion of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender persons, and queer individuals (LGBTQ) in the church's life and ministry.

This includes full participation in all the church's sacraments and supporting marriage equality and the ordination of LGBTQ pastors.

You can read more about this on our "What We Believe" page.

Accessibile

The church's building is easily accessible for persons with mobility issues. The entire builidng is located on a single floor, removing the need for stairs or elevators. We have single use bathrooms in our fellowship hall, and we have handicap accessible parking directly by the church's two main entrances: at the front of the church by the main entrance to the sanctuary and off of the rear parking lot. In our sanctuary we have wheelchair and walker accessible seating, and our sanctuary's chancel is accessible by a ramp.

Multi-Generational

Churches and other faith communities are one of the few places where people from different generations can easily and regularly interact with one another.

It can be difficult to meet the needs of different ages in one space, however we think it is vitally important.

In the sanctuary, we have stuffed animals in the pews and activity bags for our younger worshippers.

There are also rocking chairs in the sanctuary for parents with infant children.
