Hello my name is Darlene Banks. Way back in 1967-68 my mother-in-law invited me to be her guest at the mother-daughter banquet
sponsored by the UMC Church in Sugarcreek, Ohio. The program for the evening was a 2 octave bell choir -- I was smitten!!!
Since then I've been a member or director in 9 different bell choirs, as I followed my husband’s job changes across three states.
My enthusiasm for the art of hand bell ringing has continued to grow.
Currently, I am Bell Choir Director at First Congregational UCC in Grand Ledge. I invite everyone I meet to join our choir.
I believe that ringing hand bells changes people in positive ways.
Our program includes members from the age of 10 to 80,
our bell program is for those with a music background and for those who don't read music at all.
We worship with our music and hope to inspire those who listen.
My husband Ben and I were raised in central Ohio. We moved to Michigan in 1970 and are both retired from the Michigan Schools.
We have two sons and five grandchildren. I spend free time gardening, knitting, sewing and collecting pictures and family history.
Come and join us!
