New Here?
New Here?
This church does not require you to affirm
to a specific creed to be a member.
In essentials, we treasure unity; in other things we treasure diversity;
and in everything we practice charity.
Some common questions...
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Do you really welcome everyone?
We certainly try.
Our Open and Affirming Statement says "We joyfully welcome and affirm all persons—those of every age, gender, sexual orientation, personal ability, race, ethnic background or faith background—who wish to participate in the life and ministry of the church, including membership, spiritual growth, and leadership."
We welcome people who have questions. We welcome people who have been hurt by churches before.
We welcome people at every stage of their spiritual journey. We certainly aren't perfect, and we don't expect anyone else to be, either.
We do expect people to try to live the golden rule, "you should treat people in the same way that you want people to treat you." Matthew 7:12
We gather together to practice living the life that Jesus Christ wants for everyone; a life that is loving, welcoming, and forgiving.
If that sounds good to you, come on by!

What is your dress code?
We don't really have one. Some people come in suits, some come in jeans. Some come with coffee in hand, others wait until fellowship hour.
We have had slipper Sundays (come in your pajamas), and we celebrate Holy Humor Sunday and Halloween, when people come in costume.
We decorate the sanctuary according to the liturgical seasons, and some people like to dress for the season (Red on Pentecost, pastels on Easter).
In short, some people come in their best to show their respect for God and others come as they are because they need God to meet them where they are.
We try not to judge.

What is your worship service like?
Before you even get to the sanctuary, we have greeters at the church entrances to help welcome visitors.
Our worship service begins with a welcome and announcements.
We use a blend of music to worship, including piano, organ, keyboard, and handbells.
We seek to make our worship experience spiritual, inclusive, uplifting, and relevant.
We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of the month, and we welcome everyone to the table.

Are children welcome in worship?
Absolutely! We recognize that different families have different needs, and we recognize that worship is more meaningful when it includes all ages.
We have gliding rocking chairs for parents with infants. We have stuffed animals in the pews for children,
and we have activity bags at the main entrance to the sanctuary.
We also have a nursery with a staff person for parents that would like some extra help.
Our Sunday School program is geared for kindergarten through 6th grade,
with the first Sunday of the month an intergenerational service, so children can join in communion.
